Podcast 1: Script: SBI Life - Smart Platina Supreme

It’s almost become a cliche to say we live in an uncertain world, and yet, it’s truer now than ever before.

Yes, the world was always uncertain.

Yes, every generation faces its own share of challenges and changes.

But today, with technology-driven advancement faster than ever before, the pace of change is like nobody has ever seen before.

And that affects all of us, our plans, dreams, aspirations, and sum of all, our finances.

Today, we'll talk about this Brave New World we live in, and how young Indians in their 20s, 30s, and 40s are managing their financial journeys in what’s often called a VUCA world – that's Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous for our viewers.

We're seeing dramatic shifts in career trajectories, entrepreneurial ambitions on the rise, and the constant pressure of balancing present needs with future security.

Hello, I’m your host Anupam Gupta, and I welcome you to …………… Podcast, brought to you by SBI Life.

I'm thrilled to be joined by two stalwarts today who are at the forefront of transforming how Indians think about financial security and life goals. We have with us Mr. M Anand- Chief Distribution Officer, SBI Life and Mr. Abhijit Gulanikar- President, Business Strategy, SBI Life. Gentlemen, Welcome to the (…………) Podcast.

Icebreaker:

Anupam: So today we're diving into something I'm personally fascinated by – how young Indians are dreaming bigger and bolder than ever before! Whether it's starting that dream business, travelling the world, achieving financial freedom early, or creating something meaningful, there's this incredible energy I'm seeing, especially among folks in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.

Before we jump in, I'm curious – what's been exciting you both about how today's younger generations are approaching their futures?

Abhijit: To talk about how financial planning and products have changed to keep pace with the new trends, how the young generation prefers equity investment and risky bets over almost all other types of investments, and what this means for the risk portfolio of individuals.

Today's 25-year-old expects financial products to be as intuitive as their favourite apps. They're researching online, comparing options, and making decisions based on both short-term flexibility and long-term growth potential. But at the same time, they're navigating a world where traditional career paths are disappearing, and economic uncertainties seem to multiply every year.

Anupam: That’s a beautiful segue to our conversation today. We'll explore how different age groups are balancing ambitious dreams with practical realities, especially in these uncertain times.

Aspirations and Challenges Across Different Life Stages

In your 20s:

Anupam: Let's talk about those in their 20s – fresh out of college, early in their careers. What dreams and financial challenges are defining this generation?

Anand: The 20s today are quite fascinating, Anupam. This generation has grown up seeing unprecedented success stories – college dropouts becoming billionaires, startups reaching unicorn status, and influencers monetising their passions. So, their aspirations are incredibly bold. Many want to start their own ventures, work remotely while travelling, or rapidly climb corporate ladders.
